Over the past few years, fruit flavors have changed and expanded the spirits world. Everybody know that vast amount of flavored vodkas, then the growing number of flavored rums, and even some gins. There was even an attempt to flavor Sherry. Well the fruit flavoring has now hit a new segment of the spirit world, Tequilla,

with the introduction of Sauza Acai berry Tequila. I have to admit that at first I was skeptical. In fact I was very skeptical that the dinstinct flavor of tequllia would blend with any kind of fruit flavoring, let alone the (currently trendy) Acai berry. My doubt started to go away as soon as I opened the bottle. Berry flavors jumped right out at me and instantly I started to think that this was going to be good. I tried it straight up at first, and it worked. Sauza, to me has always been a very good tequilla so I knew the quality was going to be there. I honestly don't think it would have worked with a less than quality tequilla. The berry flavors covered up what some people would perceive as the harsh tequilla flavor, while still maintaining enough tequilla charcteristics, including a slightly peppery finish. I then tried with a variety of juices, and it worked over and over. Then I used it in a couple of flavored margaritas and well, you know, it worked. Now I am not so sold on this that I want to be flooded with a ton of tequilla flavors, but this particular one defiitely works, and I am open to more, but like I said that base has to be a quality tequilla. So if you are in the mood for something different, definitely give Sauza Acai Tequilla a try.
