I am very excited about our new Rose wine features in both stores. No wine signifies the start of summer better than Rose. Rose wines have travelled a long way,at first a very regal and elegant food wine, then later (mis)represented just sweet and pink .
Over the last few years though, an interesting variety of Rose wines have emerged, and it is once again cool to “drink pink”.  While French Rose is still the leader for dry and elegant Rose, offerings from South America, South Africa, Spain, Italy and California, using grapes such as Pinot Noir, Malbec, Cabernet, Grenache, Syrah and Zinfandel, the choices for Rose drinkers are wide open. There are fuller bodied Rose wine that drink almost like a light red, there are fruitier wines, as well the traditional light and dry style, so whatever it is that you like to drink there is a Rose for you. We came upon a fantastic Kosher Rose made from Cabernet and Zinfandel and found a 90 point Wine Advocate Rose of Garnacha and Tempranillo from Las Rocas. The Commanderie Bargemone Rose has an interesting story behind it, in that the French chateau in Provence was built by the Knights Templar. And the there are my two personal favorites, the Cefiro Rose of Syrah and the Crios Rose of Malbec, both of which challenge the perceptions of what Rose can be. So why is Rose perfect for the summer time, well Rose wines are young wines, which means they are meant to be fresh and vibrant, making them refreshing summer sippers. They are also versatile food wines pairing well with lobster, salmon, and most sushi dishes. They are also nice with a fruit and cheese plate, while sitting on the deck. The selection of Roses’ that we are presenting in our stores offer a great range of styles at a great price. Most have a limited availability, so much like when summer ends, you’ll have to wait until next year to enjoy them again. These wines are another way to continue your wine journey, so I hope you enjoy tasting them as much as I enjoy bringing them to you. Have a great summer
