Lafite-Rothschild Special Reserve Pauilliac
*Rich’s Pick
Elegance. That was the first word that came to my mind when I tasted this wine. From the esteemed Paulliac region of Bordeaux, a perfectly balanced wine. Black fruit flavors, pencil lead, and black licorice, harmoniously balnce with perfect tannins and the right amount of acidity. This wine is the perfect compliment to any beef dish. This is the way wine was meant to taste. 750ml

Terlato & Chapoutier Shiraz-Viognier
Rich's Pick
This wine is collaboration of two great wine minds, Michael Chapoutier of the Rhone Valley and Andrew Terlato, a Napa Valley Vintner, working in the Victoria region of Australia to create this amazing bottle, based on the traditonal Cote-Rotie style. Spicy Shiraz from vineyards in Central Victoria are given a beautiful aromatic boost from the addition of Viognier, to create a full bodied and well balanced masterpiece. The previous vintage of this wine made Wine Spectator's top 100 wines of the year. This is the last few cases of this vintage, and I was able to get my hands on a very small amount at a great price, so grab it while you can before it is gone, because when the new vintage arrives, it will go back up to its deserving price at almost $30 a bottle.

2001 Mas de Boislauzon Chateauneuf Du Pape Cuvee du Quet
We were just able to secure the last of this special wine. It is 91 points from the Wine Advocate. Here is what they had to say about it-
"The elegant, deep ruby/purple-colored 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee du Quet offers up beautiful aromas of kirsch liqueur, flowers, cherries, currants, and a resiny note. Full-bodied, firmly tannic, and closed, with excellent delineation, structure, and purity, it requires 2-4 years of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2016."
Supplies are very limited.

2001 Altamura Cabernet Sauvignon
"There is, however, nothing at all quiet about the 2001 Napa Valley vintage, one that wine writers like Robert Parker, Steve Heimoff and Jim Laube have rated 96 points, “The Best Vintage Ever” and 95-100 points respectively. The first impression of the 2001 Altamura Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is one of intense richness and depth of color followed by the unmistakable nose of Cabernet Sauvignon replete with the smoky aromas of ripe black fruits like currant, black cherry, plum and blackberries. Upon your first sip your palate will be overwhelmed by the explosion of rich, ripe blueberry, black cherry and cocoa framed by fresh acidity, and long elegant tannins. Once again, the incredible balance of the Altamura Cabernet Sauvignon culminates with notes of rich vanilla and sweet toasty oak, creating a long and elegant finish."

2005 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon
"The 2005 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon beautifully expresses the full aromatic ripeness of this exemplary vintage. It is full bodied and yet refined, and consistent in its color, aroma, palate and finish. It has a dark garnet color and a nose of black cherry, clove, cinnamon, lavender and licorice. It is seamless on the palate with a solid core of berry fruit, velvety tannins and excellent length. With proper cellaring it should give drinking pleasure through 2032."
92pts W&S
"A classic Alexander Valley cabernet, this is dark and cedary, and as smooth as velvet. The tannins last, built on black cherry-skin flavor and earthy, root-vegetable notes. With time, that black cherry flavor should become more prominent, balancing the wines earthy complexities. Drink this over the next several years with anything meaty, from duck and game birds to steak."

2006 Ferrari Carano Tresor
RICH'S PICK
92 pts WINE SPECTATOR

Charming, graceful and balanced, both complex and subtle, with a long, full finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2016 – 4,000 cases made.

2001 Ch St Jean Cinq Cepages
92 points Wine Spectator: "Beautifully crafted, dark, rich and layered, with blackberry, cherry, plum and wild berry fruit that zooms across the palate, holding a tight focus and finishing with a long, complex aftertaste. The tannins firm up nicely on the finish. Drink now through 2011." (11/04) 90 points Robert Parker: "The 2001 Cinq Cepages is an outstanding effort, although not up to the quality of the terrific examples made in the mid-nineties. A dark ruby/purple color is followed by an elegant nose of cranberries, cherries, red and black currants, smoke, and herbs. This elegant, medium to full-bodied 2001 is ideal for drinking over the next 12-13 years." (02/05)
We also have the 2000 vintage in stock

2004 Conn Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Well balanced between the acid, oak and fruit. Medium mouth feel, a
sweet black tea with honey taste. Soft tannins and texture on the sides with a
long finish that is smooth, not bitter. Long lingering aftertaste. Should be at
its best 2012-2018.

2006 Cakebread Reserve Chardonnay
Ripe and richly flavored, with a mix of tropical fruit, apple, pear and spice. There's still a tight, fine structure, ending with a subtle kiss of toasty oak. Drink now through 2013
91pts Wine Spectator

2004 Conn Valley Eloge
Full-bodied, with full rich middle palate, many layers of fruit. Perfect
balance of fruit, oak and acid, this wine is opulent and intense. Great finish.

1999 Beringer Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
"The 1999 Beringer Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is a paradigm for the argument that great wines should not be made by recipe. Because of microclimate variations on Howell Mountain in 1999, our Tre Colline Vineyard produced grapes that were riper, with more completely developed aromas, flavors and tannins than Bancroft Ranch, usually a Private Reserve favorite. It was a tough decision, but I ended up making a better wine because of it. The resulting wine has a rich texture, with dense cassis and blackberry fruit characteristics matched by notes of cedar spice and earth."
-Ed Sbragia, Winemaster
Spectator Selections - Collectibles "Complex aromas of currant, herb, tobacco, olive and cedar lead to similar flavors in a rich, concentrated yet elegant presentation. Turns smooth and creamy, with vanilla, mocha and blackberry flavors peeking through on the finish. Best from 2005 through 2014."
-Wine Spectator
"Ruby-red. Highly nuanced nose combines currant, plum, smoky oak, minerals, licorice and mint. Wonderfully sweet, sappy and dense. The most complex of these '99 cabernets, with enticing flavors of currant, minerals and brown spices. Very long, slow-building finish features big but sweet and fine tannins. Suave and impressive."
-International Wine Cellar 92-95 Point Rating

2000 Gould Campbell Vintage Port
92pts Wine Advocate
"A stunning offering, this is the finest port yet tasted from Gould Campbell. Its saturated purple color is accompanied by aromas of chocolate, blackberry liqueur, smoke, and white flowers. Packed and stacked, with moderate sweetness, high tannin, and a formidable, backstrapping intensity, this impeccably made, rich 2000 will drink well between 2010-2030. A sleeper!"

2000 Dom Perignon
95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a classic Dom Pérignon vintage. It's big and fruity initially, a mouthful of ripeness. Then the texture and structure of this dense wine come through. It’s as much wine as Champagne, rich, the apple and fresh pear flavors vying with yeasty and a tense crispness. Worth aging, it will be even better in 3-4 years." (12/08) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Brut Dom Perignon is a gorgeous, seductive wine that floats on the palate with remarkable grace. Toasty aromas meld into freshly cut flowers, apricots and pears, with sweet notes of mint and licorice that linger on the long finish. This perfumed, inviting Dom Perignon is elegance personified, and in this vintage the wine fully merits its lofty reputation. According to winemaker Vincent Chaperone there is only one disgorgement date for the first release of Dom Perignon, and the 2000 was disgorged over a period of weeks in March and April, 2007, 2007. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2018." (12/08) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Starts out round and plush, then the structure takes over. Light peach and berry flavors prevail as this plays out on the lingering finish. Give it a little time to integrate, but this should develop well. Best from 2009 through 2024." (12/08)

2006 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon
92 points Wine Spectator Insider: "Full-blown, ripe and rich, with intense and sharply focused dried currant, wild berry and blackberry fruit that's still fairly tannic at this stage. Ends with a long, persistent finish. Best from 2010 through 2015." (10/29/08) 90 points and one star from the Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine: "Ripeness and sweet oak are the governing traits of this very rich and wide-open wine, and it is more geared to dark chocolate and caramelly sweetness than it is to classic Cabernet fruit. That said, it is positively plush on the palate with extract to spare, so much so, in fact, as to make its hard turn to tannin and heat an acceptable sin." (December 2008) Established in 1972 Caymus Vineyards is one of the benchmark cabernet sauvignon producers in Napa Valley, with an enviable track record of producing some of Napa's finest reds. The 2006 is a worthy successor in this lineage of full-bodied, fruit-forward, opulent cabs. The nose starts out with alluring aromas of cherry cola, cassis and coca powder while on the palate the wine displays flavors of blackberry, crème de cassis and sweet oak. There is a lot of stuffing here and the wine is definitely still an infant with several years ahead of it to truly show its potential. A wine of immense size, structure and complexity the 2006 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon is a high-octane wine that will handsomely reward the patient consumer in 5-10 years

The Wine News
"The elegant 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa (87% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc) reveals notions of lead pencil shavings intermixed with black cherries, black currants, toast, and damp earth. It is a mid-weight, flavorful red with good acidity as well as a moderately long finish."
